Interesting Moments from Prabowo-Gibran Camp at First Presidential Debate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Throughout the performance presidential debate first to be held KPU on Tuesday night, several interesting moments were seen from the supporters and vice presidential candidates of each presidential candidate.

One of them is in the camp of candidate pair number 2 Prabowo-Gibran. Throughout the debate, Gibran seen sitting in front of his supporters. He also looked like a supporter leader who asked Prabowo’s supporters to cheer for their champion.

This moment was seen when Prabowo Subianto was answering Anies Baswedan’s question regarding the Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023. Prabowo said he was not afraid of not having a position. “Sorry,” he said, accompanied by cheers from supporters.

Seeing that, Gibran got up from his chair. He then made a gesture to get his supporters to cheer louder. However, before the supporters cheered again, the moderator immediately warned the audience to calm down.

Previously, Gibran was also seen taking notes when Anies expressed his opinion in the debate. At that time, Anies stated that the law could be bent according to the interests of the authorities.

In the vision and mission presentation session, Anies said that the law is the main reference for ensuring there is a sense of justice. “This must be adhered to firmly by all power holders,” he said at the General Election Commission or KPU complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 12 2023.

Not only that, Anies was sarcastic about Gibran. He said that currently there is a millennial figure who is a vice presidential candidate. However, there are many young people out there whose aspirations are not accommodated by the government.

As long as Anies conveyed his vision and mission, Gibran seemed to be listening and taking notes. He also appeared to be taking notes during the session presenting the vision and mission of presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo and the debate between presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, when asked for his response to the debate, Gibran was reluctant to answer. He chose to leave the assessment of the debate to the public.

“That’s for the citizens to value,” said Gibran when met after the debate outside the Indonesian KPU building, Jakarta, Tuesday.

After making brief comments, vice presidential candidate number 2 continued his journey from the KPU gate to the vehicle. He did not answer questions from journalists crowding around him.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Nusron Wahid, when asked by journalists after the debate session, said that Gibran noted down what should have been recorded.

“That shows Mas Gibran is serious,” said Nusron.
