Interesting Facts about the First Leica Leitz Phone 1

German camera manufacturer Leica launched its first HP Leitz Phone 1. Despite the name Leica, HP was actually renamed alias rebrand from Sharp Aquos R6 because Leica has entered into a partnership with Sharp.

Previous Leica routinely participates in designing cameras on Huawei-made cellphones.

In terms of specifications, the Leitz Phone 1 is identical to the Aquos R6 which has a mainstay feature in the form of a camera with a 1-inch sensor. You can often find a 1-inch sensor on the premium compact camera Sony RX100.

The Leitz Phone 1 camera module is designed differently from the Aquos R6. Leica make it circular, rather than rectangular. Then, there is the “red dot” style logo Leica in the top right corner.

The Leitz Phone 1 features a 6.6-inch Pro IGZO OLED display with a WUXGA resolution (2,730 x 1,260 pixels) and a 120 Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.
At the top of the screen there is a punch hole that contains a 12 MP selfie camera.

The Leitz Phone 1 features the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 system-on-chip, 12GB RAM and 256GB media storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 1TB, as quoted by Engadget.

The Leitz Phone 1 runs the Android 11 operating system, is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, and is dust and water resistant with IP68 certification.

Leica The new Leitz Phone 1 is available exclusively in Japan and retails for 187.9 Yen or equivalent to Rp. 24.6 million.
