Vince Gino Dekker is in the spotlight because of Spakenburg’s cup fairy tale. The 25-year-old left winger enjoys interest from clubs from the Eredivisie and Kitchen Champion Division, he says when the ESPN bus is parked at Fresia & Milan.
Dekker is one of the stars at Spakenburg, which managed to stunt against FC Groningen (2-3) and FC Utrecht (1-4) in the KNVB Cup. PSV will be the opponent in the semi-finals next week. Due to the cup success, the former youth player of Ajax looks good. Several clubs are interested. “Bottom Eredivisie. Top Kitchen Champion Division”, he reveals.
It makes Dekker doubt. “I’m in the right place at Spakenburg. I have a good life outside it. I have two children, to whom I can now give a lot of attention. So it has to be right. For me it’s more the club itself,” he explains. “Only if a really nice club comes along, you can’t say no to that. So we’ll have to see that this summer.”
In any case, Dekker will be critical in his choice. “It must be warm. I don’t know, De Graafschap, PEC Zwolle, NAC Breda. Those are of course super nice clubs to play football for. And with all due respect, Telstar, FC Dordrecht and Helmond Sport, I just don’t feel that way. Or Almere City, which is third. I also think it is important that it is a good club from the outside.”
