The share of bank financing has not changed significantly in benefit of renewable energy projects compared to those for fossil fuel extraction over the past six years. This is according to a study cited by Reuters.
Since 2016, renewable energy projects have attracted 7% of the $2.5 trillion in financing for investments in the field of energysecured through bank loans and placement of bonds, the report also states.
The total amount that banks provide annually for projects related to renewable energy sources increases to $34.6 billion in 2021. at $23.2 billion in 2016. Last year, renewables attracted 8% of bank financing for energy projects, 10% in 2021 and 7% in 2020.
