Hoyerswerda. The 15 pupils from Hoyerswerda, Kamenz and Bischofswerda certainly didn’t have boredom in the first week of autumn vacation, because they developed their stage program “Tanz den Herbst – 2020” in the KulturFabrik (KuFa) and performed it in front of their parents.
Remarkable what the eight to sixteen year olds, under the guidance of the actor and teacher of the Pegasus Theater School Dresden, Uwe Lach, as well as the singing and dance teacher of the Mosaika e. V. brought Bischofswerda to the stage. The task was to “tease out” the musical and dancing talents of the participants and to incorporate them into the one-hour program, explains the artistic director of the performance, Uwe Lach.
During a Russian folk dance (developed by Anna Giesbrecht) and a hip-hop number (developed by Mario Möckel), many participants show their skills in a short solo performance.
Waltz, folk song, Bollywood
The twins Anna and Elisa from Bischofswerda have it a little easier because they dance a waltz together. “You’re less excited together,” said eight-year-old Anna shortly before the premiere. Together, all the young artists created different rhythms with brooms and drumsticks and sang the folk song “Hejo, tension the car” in different ways (developed by the singing teacher Jekaterina Kulakowa and Uwe Lach). The 13-year-old Aliyah has been dancing in the Lausitzhalle ballet for several years. Because of her skills, she has a solo appearance in the project to soft piano music, as if she were a leaf in the wind. Naina from Chechnya, who lives with her family in the Awo refugee home in Hoyerswerda, is interested in Indian dance from “Bollywood”. “I like to watch these films and have come up with a choreography for the music myself,” says the twelve-year-old. Of course, she also stood on the KuFa stage and received applause from the audience.
The dance project is financed through the program “Culture makes you strong – alliances for education” of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (sub-program “ChanceTanz”). Uwe Lach is convinced: “Sensibly invested tax money.”
In order to promote communication between refugees, migrants and German families, Mosaika e. V. for years with children and teenagers. In 2019, participants from the Hoyerswerda refugee home were on stage for the first time. That should be the case again in December, says the head of Mosaika e. V., Angelina Burdyk.
Uwe Lach and the dance and singing teachers of the Bischofswerdaer Verein begin to rehearse a Russian fairy tale after the autumn break in Hoyerswerda, Kamenz and Bischofswerda. Performances will also take place in these cities. The parents of the participating children can help with the construction of the scenery and the sewing of the costumes. This is also how cultures meet. Partners of the “Fairytale Encounters” project are the “House of Encounters” Kamenz and the citizens’ alliance “Hoyerswerda helps with heart”.
