Intercity Bus Driver Saves Passenger’s Life on Sofia-Sliven Line

A driver of an intercity bus on the Sofia-Sliven line saved the life of a passenger during a course from the capital to the City of Blue Stones. The accident in the vehicle of the Sliven company “Doris” happened in the afternoon on April 25, Wednesday, on the “Trakia” highway, about 30 km near Plovdiv, when a 37-year-old passenger felt sick.

The man has a seizure, according to one of the passengers, who notices something is wrong after hearing a strange snoring. The girl starts screaming for help. The driver of the flight, 35-year-old Bilyal Hasanov, immediately pulls into the emergency lane, stops and rushes to help.

“The boy was sitting in the middle of the bus, lying on his side, belted, he couldn’t breathe. I talk to him, he doesn’t answer. He went completely limp. He turned blue, he couldn’t breathe clearly. Not breathing, eyes closed, not talking. I shout to myself: It’s over, something will happen”tells the Dir.bg He was. He and the other passengers were scared.

His first job is to ask if there is a doctor or other medical person among the passengers.

“I asked if anyone could help, if they knew how. Because no matter what I do, I’m a driver, I’m not a doctor. No one called.” continues the story of the 35-year-old driver from the Sliven village of Novachevo.

Then it turns out that a medical student was traveling on the bus, who kept silent, claims one of the passengers. Bilal does not know if this is so or not, and despite everything, he finds an excuse for the future medic for not coming to help, saying: “He may still be in his first year and not dare.”

After no one calls, Bilyal takes matters into his own hands. He himself says that he only knew what to do from the BCHK course, which every driver must go through before receiving a driving license. He tries to open his mouth, doesn’t quite succeed, pulls out his tongue, massages the heart, splashes the man with water.

During this time, a passenger calls 112 for help and the ambulance from Plovdiv arrives in 15-20 minutes. Bilal is counting the minutes until her arrival, worried that the fainting man’s condition will not worsen. He had already saved him from suffocation before the medics arrived. The emergency team provides first aid and recommends that the injured person go to his personal doctor for an examination as soon as possible. The man does not know the reason, he has not suffered from anything that could explain what happened.

“Then he calmed down. I call him: “Are you okay?”, he looks at me and asks: “What’s going on, can I help you?” When he came to, he didn’t remember what happened.”, says Bilyal. He rests, continues on his way, and the man he saved goes down to Nova Zagora. She thanks him, of course, after she finds out what happened to him.

Bilyal arrived in Sliven with a little delay from the schedule, and upon disembarking, almost all of the passengers personally thanked him for bringing them unharmed and for decisively intervening in the critical situation.

Bilyal does not tell anyone about the incident – in 4 years of working for the company as a driver, this is the first time such a thing has happened to him. He keeps quiet, doesn’t post on Facebook, doesn’t think he’s done anything extraordinary. “I’m not one to brag” – that’s how he explains why he didn’t tell his boss, his colleagues, or even his mother, who calls him in the evening from Novachevo after every course to let her know what’s going on returned from the trip alive and well. “Why bother her,” he adds.

“Whoever it happens to, everyone will help as much as they can. As much as I could, I helped.” Bilyal says about his act and does not think that he did anything special.

When he arrives at the company’s garage, it becomes clear that his colleagues already know about what happened. “I didn’t even know that they wrote in the Sliven Facebook group,” continues the driver. It turns out that one of the passengers immediately told the whole story on the social network.

“I want to share with you about a hero in my eyes, about a person worthy of respect in my imagination, a person who has not lost the humanity in him, able to feel compassion and at the same time remain adequate enough to be able to help ! The driver named Bilyal is the hero of my story, he pulled out the boy’s tongue. A moment like this makes me think about many things, and most of all, why about 15 people didn’t even flinch? Thanks to the lady who called an ambulance, and BRAVO for Bilyal’s humanitarian act and kind heart!Sisi wrote and described in detail what happened. She also published a photo of the bus.

And Bilyal received thanks and a monetary award from the owner of the company where he works, already on Thursday morning. According to Todorka Eneva, he wasn’t even happy about the bonus as much as the fact that his colleagues congratulated him and said they were proud of him.

“He blushed and laughed and said that he didn’t do anything,” Todorka Eneva, the owner of the “Doris” transport company, told Dir.bg. “He didn’t tell anyone about it. We found out from the Facebook post. He’s surprised we’re even talking about it because he thinks it’s absolutely normal.”she added.

“I told him that it’s extremely important to say thank you when he’s done humanely, and that usually people take the time to write a post when they think someone’s done wrong. And I make sure to call to explain that it’s wrong. and that I don’t want it to happen again. And now that he’s done what every man should do, and he’s shown such a healthy mind, I can’t help but thank him and tell him that we’re proud of him.” commented the owner of the company.

And Bilyal, although he has remained silent, admits that he will never forget what happened.

“It’s a lesson for me,” he says. And he thinks that the most important thing in life is to be alive and healthy. “Other things come – bad or good, they always come. Sometimes bad, sometimes good. Let’s be alive and healthy! And let’s fight.” the bus driver from Sliven finishes his story.

“You are a hero, and I’m sure not only today and not only in my history!”writes passenger Sisithanks to which we also found out about 35-year-old Bilyal Hasanov from the village of Novachevo, Sliven region, who does not like to talk, but knows when to act.
