Ratingen. Interactive Handball Düsseldorf-Ratingen suffered its second defeat on matchday 3 of the 3rd League South-West. Despite a decent performance, the promoted team narrowly lost 35:37 (17:18) at HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden on Saturday evening.

“We started the game well and were on equal terms for long stretches. “Unfortunately, we made too many mistakes in crucial moments when we could have perhaps taken the game to our side,” explained Benjamin Daser, head of the sports department at Interaktiv, after the away game in Hesse.

Especially in the initial phase, Interactive coach Filip Lazarov’s team was unimpressed by the hosts, who started with 4-0 points. The result was a narrow 11:10 lead in the 18th minute. However, this should have been the last lead for the guests until the final whistle. From then on, the home team took the lead and interactively equalized. However, the last equalizer came in the 37th minute to make the score 21:21. Then the home team was able to pull ahead by two or three goals.

The crucial point was the phase between the 51st and 54th minutes, in which Interaktiv allowed the HSG to pull away from 29:30 to 29:32. In the end, this mortgage was too high. “We didn’t play a bad away game. With 37 goals conceded, we certainly have to improve, especially in defense, with a view to the upcoming tasks,” explained Daser and then added: “We certainly still have to adapt to the league with stronger opponents, fuller halls and further trips develop. But we can take away from today that we were equal for a long time against a strong opponent and also had the opportunity to take points.” There was special praise for the accurate Tomislav Nuic.
