Inter-union meeting in Rouen to mobilize against the pension reform

Thursday, January 12, a meeting organized by the full union organizations brought together nearly 400 people in Rouen. He was intergenerational but predominantly elderly.

After a clear explanation of the pension counter-reform, the choice was made to mainly give the floor to the public and very short union interventions. Two student organizations have called for the years of study to be taken into account as work and denounced the aberration of making older people work longer when many young people cannot find jobs.

Numerous, continuous, renewable strikes

The public was quite militant but not only, combative and happy with union unity. Hospital workers and others testified to the very difficult working conditions that make it unbearable to consider working longer.

The opinion was shared that the mobilizations of January 19 must succeed but that it will not be enough. It will take numerous, continuous, renewable strikes, not proxy strikes leaving a few sectors alone on strike, but also other forms of struggle. Questions were asked: “How to continue after the 19th? How to control the movement? » Ideas were expressed as to redo an GA of the sectors in struggle after the 19th, with the presence in addition of the unions, associations, in particular feminists, ATTAC, parties, to address the precarious because this question of pensions concerns us all and all, whatever our age!
