Inter Milan still okay even without Antonio Conte. Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella reveals how his team has grown with Simone Inzaghi.
Inter and Conte parted ways last summer. The decision was somewhat surprising because Conte had just brought Inter to the Italian League champions.
Inter then pointed Simone Inzaghi as coach to replace Conte. So far, the performance of the former Lazio coach has shown positive results.
Nerazzurri is currently top of the Italian League standings with 40 points from 17 matches and only one defeat. Lautaro Martinez et al also qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League.
“Inzaghi let us be freer to do something. It doesn’t mean Conte is forcing us to do something. But Inzaghi’s charisma makes everyone feel involved, allows us to take decisions,” said Barella about the differences between Inzaghi and Conte, as reported by Football Italia.
“It was something we needed after two intense seasons where we always followed the same concept.”
“Some players left (in the summer), but we signed other great footballers. But we want to show that we are still the best.”
Inter Milan topped the Italian League standings with only one point ahead of AC Milan who is in second place. Barella believes the experience of winning last season will benefit Inter.
“There is more competition than last year, but we have something more than the others,” said Barella.
“We have awareness and experience, we know how to be champions because we’ve done it before. We feel this on the pitch and the opponent feels it too,” he said.
