Inter regularly ‘send’ players to the World Cup final, now whose turn is it?

Jakarta

Since 1982 there have always been players Inter Milan who reached the World Cup final. ON 2022 editionWill a similar story repeat itself?

At the 1982 World Cup, Italy beat West Germany 3-1 in the final. There are at least five players from Gli Azzurri who strengthen Inter, three of whom appear at the top of the party, namely Giuseppe Bergomi, Alessandro Altobelli and Gabriele Oriali. Meanwhile, Ivano Bordon and Gianpiero Marini sat on the bench.

Then in the 1986 World Cup, Argentina defeated West Germany 3-2. At that time, Inter players effectively occupied the losing side, namely Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who acted as captain of Die Mannschaft.

Four years later, at the 1990 World Cup, Argentina and West Germany met again in the top match, but this time Tango’s team fell 0-1. The winners were Inter represented by Andreas Brehme, Lothar Matthaus and Juergen Klinsmann.

Moving on to the 1994 World Cup, Brazil became world champions after winning on penalties against Italy in the final. On this occasion Nicola Berti, defender of Gli Azzurri, becomes ‘ambassador’ of Inter in the final.

A unique situation occurred at the 1998 World Cup when France beat Brazil 3-0 in the final. Each team was reinforced by players from Inter. Les Bleus have Youri Djorkaeff, while Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima is in the Selecao squad.

At the 2002 World Cup, Brazil won the title by beating Germany 2-0. Samba’s team was once again strengthened by Ronaldo who became a star by scoring a brace. It was his last season at Inter.

Going into the 2006 World Cup Italy won their fourth title after beating France in the final on penalties. Inter players won again after Marco Materazzi scored a goal and also managed to be the enforcer in the penalty shootout.

The 2010 World Cup becomes the stage for Wesley Sneijder who leads Inter to the Treble before the tournament. He then led the Netherlands to the final, but ultimately lost 0-1 to Spain.

The final edition of the 2014 World Cup once again presented the Inter fans as the losing team. At that time, Argentina lost 0-1 to Germany, and at that time there were three Albiceleste players defending La Beneamata, namely Hugo Campagnaro, Rodrigo Palacio and Ricky Alvarez.

Finally, Inter were represented by Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic who led Croatia to the final of the 2018 World Cup, before being defeated by France 2-4. At least six of Simone Inzaghi’s players will compete at the 2022 World Cup.

These are Andre Onana (Cameroon), Lautaro Martinez (Argentina), Brozovic (Croatia), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium), Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij (Netherlands). Can any of the six countries progress to the final? Or will the beautiful story of Inter and the World Cup end this time?
