The two Milanese teams are separated by 14 points. If both win today, Simone Inzaghi’s team will have to score three points in the derby at Milan on Monday 22 April to mathematically become Italian champions with five days to spare. If Inter win, but not Milan, a draw in the derby will be enough for the Nerazzurri. If Milan win against Sassuolo, but not Inter, the championship celebration could be postponed to the following day, at home against Torino. This is why the match against Ranieri’s Sardinians is so important for the league leaders.
Room for Bisseck in defense
Cagliari is thirteenth with 30 points, four points just above third-last place. The rossoblù are coming off two home games in a row: at the Sardegna arena they first drew with Verona, then won against Atalanta. Inzaghi will be able to count on Sommer in goal. In Pavard’s place, Bisseck should play on the left front of the defense, together with Acerbi and Bastoni. On the flanks, Darmian, preferred to Dumfries on the right, and Dimarco should run. In midfield, the trio of Barella, Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan is very confirmed. Alongside Thuram, with Lautaro disqualified, run-off between Sanchez and Arnautovic.
The second star
Celebrating the twentieth scudetto on the pitch against Milan, who have won nineteen, is the dream of many Inter fans. In any case, however, the Tricolore cup will be awarded to Lautaro and his teammates only after the last home match of the season, against Lazio. There is no date yet. What is certain, however, is that the Scudetto will be able to be sewn onto the new Nerazzurri shirts, together with the second star, only from 1 July. Until that day, the title of Italian champions will formally go to the Napoli players, winners in the 2022/23 season. As always, the shirt for the following season will be decorated in white, red, green and gold: 2024/25.

What the San Siro crowd will be able to celebrate already on Sunday against Cagliari, however the match ends up, is the new record of Inter Club members in the world. This season, global membership has reached 208 thousand, a third more than the previous year. Since July last year, 14 new clubs have been founded. On the planet today, the recognized Nerazzurri associations exceed a thousand, and are present in 78 different countries. The record will be celebrated before the race in a sold-out stadium. The next home match, against Torino, which could be played on Sunday 29 April in the afternoon, is also sold out. There is no official date and time yet.
