Inter Milan won at home 2-1 against RB Salzburg. Penalty Hakan Calhanoglu ensure the Snake’s victory.
Inter host RB Salzburg at the Guiseppe Meazza on the third matchday of Group D of the Champions League, Wednesday (25/10) early morning WIB. The Nerazzurri led 1-0 in the first half.
Inter’s goal came through Alexis Sanchez in the 19th minute. However, Salzburg was able to equalize after the break.
Oscar Gloukh got his name on the scoreboard in the 57th minute to make it level. Inter didn’t take long to regain the lead.
In the 64th minute, Hakan Calhanoglu was able to score a goal from the penalty spot. Score 2-1 for Inter to close the 90 minutes.
This result brings Inter to the top of Group D with seven points. Meanwhile, Salzburg is in third position with three points.
The Course of the Match
The visitors almost surprised the hosts by taking a quick lead in the fifth minute. However, Oscar Gloukh’s efforts were still secured by Yann Sommer.
RB Salzburg was able to make things difficult for Inter at the start of the first half. However, slowly the Snake began to take control of the match.
Inter broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. Henrich Mkhitaryan passed the ball towards Alexis Sanchez who was uncontrollable coming from behind.
Alexander Schlager couldn’t stop Sanchez’s shot. Inter lead 1-0.
The Nerazzurri are still dominant after taking the lead. However, they still have difficulty creating dangerous opportunities.
Lautaro Martinez had a chance when he received a pass from Alexis Sanchez. Lautaro launched a hard kick from the right side of the penalty box. His efforts have not been fruitful because they are still wide.
There were no additional goals until halftime. Score 1-0 for Inter to close the first half.
After the break, Salzburg were able to equalize the numbers in the 57th minute. A long pass reached Roko Simic who reflected it to Maurits Kjaergaard.
Kjaerrgaard then passed the ball to Gloukh. Gloukh, who appeared in the penalty box without control, fired a measured shot. His shot went into the left corner of Yann Sommer’s goal.
In the 64th minute, Inter were awarded a penalty after Frattesi was fouled by Lucas Gourna-Douath. Hakan Calhanoglu, who stepped forward as executor, carried out his duties well.
His shot to the right outwits Schlager. Inter again led 2-1.
The Snake scored their third goal in the 81st minute. The Inter players’ neat cooperation dismantled the Salzburg defense line.
Fratessi gave a pass to the front of goal which Lautaro was able to hit. However, this goal was later disallowed after reviewing VAR due to Lautaro being offside.
Inter closed the match with a 2-1 win.
