Internazionale won 6-0 as a guest of Verona in the 33rd round of the Italian top football championship (Serie A) on Wednesday, strengthening its position in the group aspiring for Champions League places. The same cannot be said for Milan, which surprisingly only managed to squeeze a point from Cremonese, who were escaping relegation, at home (1-1). Lazio beat Sassuolo 2-0, delaying Napoli’s almost certain title promotion.

VERONA–INTER 0–6
With the eight points they collected in the previous four rounds, the Verona team greatly improved their chances of staying in, but against Inter, the hope of scoring points disappeared already in the middle of the first half: the visitors scored three goals in the space of seven minutes. The first one was credited to another domestic player – Adolfo Gaich hit his own team’s goal with a beautiful pike header -, Hakan Calhanoglu greets with a huge upper heel bomb, Edin Dzeko and at the end of a counter that unfolded from a possession, he rolled into the bottom right.
Some stats: the last time Inter scored three goals in the first half of an away league was in December 2021, and Calhanoglu and Dzeko found the back of the net then, too, against Roma. (Opta)
In the second half Lautaro Martinez he punished a domestic turnover with a beautiful goal, and then it happened again Dzeko, again at the end of a counterattack, with a smart low-corner shot. The last word Martínez he said from close range, with his tormenting goal in the evening – Inter won for the third time in a row.
MILAN–CREMONESE 1–1
For more than seventy minutes, no goal was scored, and when the moment came, it was not scored by the team that the paper “expected” to score: the substitute David Church he faltered from the half-way line, laid down both Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw around the 16-yard line (perhaps the two Milan players helped each other…), then calmly shot into the goal.
He replaced it with hair junior messiah in the 93rd minute, he saved Milan’s unbeaten league streak since mid-March with his lucky equalizer, but it was already the fourth draw for the Pioli team in the last five rounds.
LAZIO–SASSUOLO 2–0
Lazio could throw away Napoli’s symbolic crowning on Wednesday night in only one case: if they beat Sassuolo. The operation promised success from the 15th minute, as Marcos Antonio advanced Felipe Anderson he took the ball down nicely and shot it into the goal.
Of course, it was important for the Romans to win after two defeats, mainly because of fueling their own hopes of starting the Champions League. The Croatian, who came on as a substitute, became certain of getting the three points in the final game Toma Basic with his close shot.
MONZA–ROME 1–1
A soul-destroying goal put the home team’s good streak in jeopardy: in the 24th minute, goalkeeper Michele De Gregorio “dribbled” the ball to the Romans, who greeted him warmly and Stephan El Shaarawy took the lead with his close range shot. Luca Caldirola he responded with a nice header after a forward free kick.
No goals scored in the second half; Monza dropped points after three winning matches, but is undefeated in five rounds, while Roma – who were man down in the final game – are winless in three rounds.
