Inter Milan came away with a 1-0 win from their visit to home Fiorentina. Lautaro Martinez became the star of Inter’s victory with his single goal.
From Fiorentina vs Inter Milan in the continuation of the Italian Serie A League, it was held at the Artemio Franchi, Monday (29/1/2024) early morning WIB. Lautaro scored for Inter in the 14th minute.
Thanks to this victory, Inter Milan is firmly at the top of the Italian League standings with 54 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Fiorentina is in fifth place with 34 points.
The Course of the Match
Inter got a chance after taking advantage of Lucas Martinez-Quarta’s mistake. His pass to Ranieri was cut off by Lautaro Martinez who then counterattacked. However, Lautaro’s shot went over the crossbar after hitting a Fiorentina player.
Fiorentina scored a goal through M’Bala Nzola who beat Yann Sommer after receiving a cross. However, the referee disallowed the goal for offside.
Inter opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Kristjan Asllani’s corner kick was followed by Lautaro with a header.
VAR checked the goal for a potential foul on Parisi. However, VAR assessed that there was no violation.
Fiorentina threatened through Giaomo Bonaventura. Bonaventura’s kick forced Sommer to make a save.
Entering the second half, Inter scored a goal through Marko Arnautovic. The referee disallowed the goal because Henrikh Mkhitaryan was offside during the goal.
Fiorentina, who were looking for a return goal, continued to apply pressure. Nzola had a chance, but his shot was blocked by Benjamin Pavard and Sommer had no trouble securing the ball.
Fiorentina’s attack again threatened Inter’s goal. Sommer punched the ball into the penalty box. The ball was headed by Martinez-Quarta, but Pavard cleared it on the goal line.
The referee then checked the VAR for a potential Sommer foul on Nzola. The referee called a violation and Fiorentina received a penalty.
However, Nicolas Gonzalez, who stepped forward as executor, failed to maximize it. His shot was too weak and Sommer had no trouble securing the ball.
The pressure exerted by Fiorentina in the remaining time of the match did not produce results. Inter successfully maintained their lead until the match was over.
