Milan –
Romelu Lukaku just one more step to get back in uniform Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have agreed a loan deal with Chelsea.
As quoted Sky Sport Italia, Inter and Chelsea finally reached an agreement after a fairly tough negotiation process. Inter will borrow Lukaku, but from the start the issue of cost has been a barrier.
Chelsea initially asked for 10-13 million euros to be paid in cash, but Inter only agreed to 8 million euros. After negotiations, Chelsea agreed to a proposal of 8 million euros plus bonuses.
This bonus is estimated at 4-5 million euros, depending on the team’s achievements in the 2022/2023 season. The clause is active if Inter win the Scudeto, Champions League or Europa League.
There are no bonuses related to the player’s performance and there is also no obligation for Inter to make Lukaku permanent. As soon as next season is over, Lukaku will return to the blue-blue uniform.
Lukaku’s return is like an escape after his failure last season. Purchased for 113 million euros from Inter, Lukaku played for only 14 goals in all competitions and failed to lead Chelsea to win the Premier League and retain the Champions League, and lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals.
Moreover, since last December, Lukaku has indicated that he does not feel at home at Stamford Bridge and wants to return to the Giuseppe Meazza. Even Lukaku is willing to cut his salary by half, from 13-14 million euros to 7 million euros.
After this, Romelu Lukaku will fly to Milan on Friday (24/6) to undergo a medical so that his move can be finalized and join the pre-season. In his first spell in the blue-black jersey, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances.
