Inter Miami’s 2023 season has ended. There are still two games to play, both against Charlotte FC, but in Miami’s case, at least, it doesn’t matter. Their fate was already decided at this point. Even with those two matches, their rivalry was over.
Before each season begins, MLS clubs start with one main goal: getting into the playoffs playoff. In reality, it is not the most difficult goal. There are also secondary goals: trophies, transfers, off-field initiatives. However, when every team begins preseason in the early months of the year, the first mission everyone starts pushing for is innings playoff.
And, in that department, Inter Miami failed. After entering the round postseason in 2022, they failed this time. With two games remaining, they were already eliminated. There will be no more high-stakes games in South Florida this year.
However, as always, this discussion is worth discussing more than that. Inter Miami may have failed in their goals in the postseason, but this season cannot be described as a resounding success.
