Inter goes to Zhang’s house: friendly matches in China in July

MILANO – Steven Zhang’s intention is to return to Italy in time to witness the victory of the second scudetto under his presidency, the twentieth in Nerazzurri history. Whether they do it or not, in the summer Inter will fly to China, where Zhang Jindong’s 32-year-old son has been since June last year. There is nothing official yet, but it is probable that Simone Inzaghi’s team, who turned 48 yesterday, will go on a friendly tour at the end of July in the district of Chengdu, a city of 14 million inhabitants in the south-west of Country, capital of Sichuan province.

Possible opponents

The Chinese tour hypothesis is not the only one on the table, but it is currently the most probable. The list of possible opponents is not yet defined, but among the invited teams there would be PSG, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, who eliminated Inter in the Champions League round of 16 last month. The match will be scheduled after the European Championship in Germany, which will involve a large part of the Inter squad. Then, after a very short break, the players will return to training in view of the resumption of the championship, scheduled for the weekend of 17 and 18 August, a week earlier than the current edition.

The complaint from the Juventus fans

While Zhang and the Oaktree fund seek an agreement on the renewal of the 275 million loan granted in 2021 by the fund to the company that controls the club, expiring on May 20th, there are those who argue that Inter would not have the requirements to sign up to the championship. They are the lawyers of the Juventus fan foundation Jdentità Bianconera, who have presented a complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Covisoc and FIGC. In their view, Inter does not have the business continuity requirements. In particular, they point out the indebtedness of the Nerazzurri club and the company that controls it, as well as the fact that the company “has not produced profits for at least twenty years”. And they add: “The documents in our possession show that Grand Tower S.à.rl (the parent company of Inter, ed.) has never presented a balance sheet.” So far neither Covisoc, nor the auditing firms, nor UEFA (with which Inter has started a settlement agreement process) have considered that business continuity was in question.
