Europa League Results: Inter escape thanks to player hated Antonio Conte

Crazy Ball – Inter Milan made it through to the Europa League quarter-finals thanks to a 2-0 win over Getafe in the last 16 on Thursday (6/8), with a winning goal set by a player hated by coach Antonio Conte.

The Nerazzurri went ahead 1-0 through Romelu Lukaku’s goal from a tight angle on 33 minutes the match which took place one leg at the Veltins-Arena in Germany. But the score of 1-0 was not safe at all because Getafe fought bravely for 90 minutes. A netizen even described Getafe’s resistance as a battered street child against a professional boxer but still stood up and invited to fight.

Jose Pepe Bordalas’s children even almost evened the score 1-1 through captain Jorge Molina’s penalty after Diego Godin handball in the penalty box. Luckily for Inter, the captain Gatefe’s shot misses the side of the goal, something that is a relief.

Inter’s fate of qualifying for the last eight of the Europa League is confirmed by a player who is not liked by Antonio Conte, Christian Eriksen. The Danish player was only included in the 82nd minute as a substitute for the Nerazzurri key midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, and within seconds he gave the Nerazzurri a winning goal. 2-0 score lasted until the end and Inter escaped!

Christian Eriksen is a player brought in not by Antonio Conte but by Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta and on many occasions just put on the bench by Conte. His goal tonight that ensured Inter’s victory will lead to a better fate at the San Siro.

Inter vs Getafe and Sevilla vs Roma on Friday morning tomorrow are two of the last eight of the Europa League’s last 16 matches which have been completed with just one leg in a neutral stadium in Germany. This is because these two matches did not even have the chance to start their first leg when the European second caste competition was forcibly stopped in mid-March due to the crisis which is now entering the second wave in England and Spain.

With this 2-0 victory then Inter qualify for the quarter-finals of the Europa League and will fight the winners of Rangers vs. Bayer Leverkusen with the Bundesliga team winning 1-3.
