Roma –
Inter Milan Champion Italian Cup, Juventus nirglar, dan AC Milan approaching the Scudetto. The 2021/2022 season in Italy is similar to what happened 11 years ago.
Inter won the first trophy in the Land of Pizza this season after beating Juventus 4-2 in the Coppa Italia Final, Thursday (12/5/2022) early morning WIB. After the two teams drew 2-2 for 90 minutes, the match continued to 2×15 minutes of extra time.
Inter scored two goals in that half, all of which were brought in by Ivan Perisic. La Beneamata won the eighth Coppa Italia trophy as well as the first since the 2010/2011 season.
Meanwhile, Juventus are confirmed to end the season without a title for the first time since 2010/2011. Juventus failed to compete in Serie A and were eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League.
This is a big disappointment for the Old Lady who has the most expensive squad in Italy at the moment. However, Juventus’ failure to win a trophy could be good news for AC Milan.
Yes, AC Milan also haven’t won a trophy this season but they are in pole position to embrace the Scudetto. With two games remaining, Milan are two points clear and head-to-head at the top Serie A standingsover the defending champion and city rival Inter Milan.
Stefano Pioli’s side need just four points from the remaining two matches, against Atalanta and Sassuolo. If Milan to become champions, then the deja vu season 2010/2011 really exists.
His current position and 11 years ago are the same. Juventus did not hold the title, while the Coppa Italia belonged to Inter and the Italian League to AC Milan. Milan then finished the season with 82 points, two more than the current position.
Meanwhile, Inter have two more points, and Juventus at least finish better in Serie A, namely the top four rather than seventh position.
