Intentional Car Attack in Râmnicu Sărat: Driver Arrested for Attempted Murder

He is charged with attempted murder after reacting in such a brutal manner following a conflict with the victims and their families.

The incident took place in a central area of ​​Râmnicu Sărat, an hour before midnight.

Two women, who were walking on the side of the street, manage to take refuge at the last moment on the sidewalk from the path of the car that the driver had intentionally directed towards them.

The car then drives towards two men on another sidewalk. He hits one. Several people were later filmed running after the vehicle. A few individuals armed with clubs and axes also appear.

Not a minute later, the car turns around and plows into the group of people – after climbing onto the sidewalk. He takes one young man on the hood and hits another one hard. After the impact, one of the victims remains inert, while the other manages to stand up.

Another third attack by the man with the car follows. A young man is crushed, this time, by a fence.

The aggressor driver is accused of attempted murder

Prosecutors determined that the aggressor had previously had a conflict with the victims’ family.

Valerică Vasîi, first prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Buzău Court: “He left with the car, and when he noticed the members of the other family on the street, he drove into them three times through various maneuvers.”

A confrontation also took place between the aggressor driver, the victims and their families.

Ilie Gheorghe, participant in the conflict: “When he saw me down, he started the car and came towards them. I don’t know what else happened, that I was down, that he hit me in the ribs and in the head”.

The participants did not calm down even when the ambulances came.

Adrian Bunilă, spokesperson for the Buzău County Hospital: “3 men aged 14, 20 and 39 were transported, victims of an assault. The 14-year-old teenager suffered a fracture in his lower limbs. And the 39-year-old man has polytrauma from a road accident. The decision was made to transfer him to the Floreasca hospital in the capital”.

The driver who rammed into the three was detained and will be presented in court with a proposal for preventive arrest. He is accused of attempted murder.
