Intensive wheat production program presented in Ethiopia

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presented an intensive wheat production program this Sunday, with the aim of helping meet Ethiopia’s demand from next year.

During the presentation in the eastern state, the head of government urged officials and the people of the region and the entire nation to engage in the aspiration to produce the cereal for self-sufficiency and export.

The country’s narratives only change with the hard work of their sons and daughters, he assured and commented that the results of the food harvest, so far, show the nation’s bright future.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Agriculture, the aspiration is to exploit about 13 thousand square kilometers of land to collect about five thousand 200 million kilograms of food, during the Ethiopian summer dates.

The conflict in Ukraine has caused wheat prices to skyrocket and Ethiopia hopes to increase its production by up to 70% to meet domestic demand and also start supplying international markets.
