The Seoul Metropolitan Government upgraded the snow removal emergency service to the second stage as the Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow warning in Seoul at 3:40 pm on the 12th.
According to the Meteorological Administration, 4.5cm of snow fell in Seoul at 5:10 pm on the day. Radar observations confirmed the amount of snowfall in Seocho-gu 6.5cm, Nowon-gu 5.0cm, and Seodaemun-gu 4.6cm.
The city of Seoul first sprayed the snow removal agent throughout Seoul around 3 pm by putting in equipment such as 8,000 people and 1078 snow removal vehicles, and is continuously spraying additional snow removal agents. At 3:33 p.m., a disaster message was also sent due to a snowfall, and a traffic control section in the city occurred in the aftermath of the heavy snowfall. The section between Nangok-ro Nanwu Police Box and Nanhyang Intersection, and Gaeunsan Trail and Seoul Gaeun Elementary School-Seongbuk-gu Council are also under control until 11:30.
Traffic congestion in the city has also increased. As of 5:50 pm that day, the total speed of Seoul is 12.5 km/h, and the total speed of the city center is 7.6 km.
As the number of citizens using public transportation is expected to increase, the Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to extend the public transportation intensive dispatch time during the rush hour on the day and the rush hour on the 13th.
On this day, the intensive dispatch time is extended by 2 hours from 6 pm to 8 pm until 10 pm, and the rush hour on the 13th is extended by 30 minutes from 7 am to 9 am.
In addition to the city buses, the minimum dispatch interval during rush hours will be extended by 30 minutes for all routes, and nighttime reduction due to novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) will be temporarily canceled.
