QUERÉTARO, Qro., September 7, 2023.- The Querétaro state health secretary informs that, from September 11 to 23, an Intensive Day to mitigate the backlog of vaccination schemes against the human papillomavirus will be held with the objective of to vaccinate girls in fifth and sixth grade and first grade of secondary education or 11, 12 and 13 years old who are not enrolled in the national education system, as well as girls who have not been vaccinated in the past school year.
The programmed goal is to apply 65,597 doses to cover the girls enrolled in the 1,591 public and private primary schools and 596 secondary schools, and girls who are not enrolled in school. The vaccination activity will be covered by the professionals of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers, the Mexican Institute of Ordinary Social Security and Health Services of the State of Querétaro in the health units during the corresponding hours of each establishment.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection is considered the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI), affecting more than half of sexually active men and women at some point in their lives.
Derived from the limited availability of the HPV vaccine worldwide, it is essential to prioritize the target population considering the cost effectiveness and generate a greater impact on public health, which is why the National Center for Child and Adolescent Health (CeNSIA) of the Federal Ministry of Health in 2022 carried out the Campaign to mitigate the backlog of vaccination schemes against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
The population is invited to be aware of the activities that will be carried out in the schools, or to go to their nearest medical health unit with the informed consent form signed by the mother, father or guardian, which must include the CURP of the adolescent
