“Intensified Vaccination Days for 5-11 Year Olds in Jalisco Metropolitan Area to Combat COVID-19”

The winter season continues and the risk of suffering from respiratory diseases such as COVID-19 is present. Given this, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) intensified vaccination days for girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age who do not have their second dose; taking the vaccine to some selected basic education schools in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG).

This strategy is aimed at completing the vaccination schemes in this age group, bringing the biological one closer so that minors can have greater protection against the coronavirus. The brigades will visit various metropolitan schools this week, after inviting parents to come with their daughters and sons during school hours.

The benefit of vaccinating girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 11 is greater when they have both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine, endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for children and authorized by the Federal Commission. for the Prevention of Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) at the beginning of March 2022.

The vaccine against COVID-19 helps to develop antibodies so that in case of illness the body has more resources to defend itself.

In Jalisco during this week, in addition to the basic education schools in Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque, Tonalá and Tlajomulco, where only second doses will be applied; there are vaccines against COVID-19 available in Health Centers of the 125 municipalities of Jalisco.
