It went horribly wrong during a scooter race on the Aalborgweg near an industrial estate in Groningen. Two young drivers crashed head-on into each other very hard. Images of the nasty accident appeared on video website Dumpert.nl.
Both drivers were injured and taken to hospital. One of the injured with the ambulance. The other driver was later found in the city. He was taken to hospital under police escort.
During the on-site investigation, things threatened to get out of hand for a while when the police wanted to confiscate a scooter. Witnesses saw a baton being drawn, but ultimately no further arrests were made. How the accident happened is apparent from the images that surfaced on video-share website Dumpert.nl .
