The online newspaper “The Times of Israel” on Saturday morning reported “intense ground fighting” around Hanyounis in the southern Gaza Strip, where the Israeli army believes part of the Hamas leadership is located.
Referring to the local residents, the newspaper reports that the Israeli army has scattered leaflets in Hanyounis, inviting the residents to flee to Rafah further south.
Fighting in the Gaza Strip resumed on Friday after a week-long ceasefire.
Israel stated that Hamas had violated the ceasefire by firing rockets into its territory.
Since the end of the ceasefire, the Israeli army has struck more than 400 targets linked to Palestinian terrorists.
The air force, navy and ground forces were involved in the attack, the army announced, noting that more than 50 of the targets hit were located in the vicinity of Hanyounis.
