The intelligence service of one of the countries of the Old Continent warns that Russia may try to attack Europe in the winter of 2024-2025 – at a time when the US will find itself “without a leader” and which would make it difficult to provide immediate help to its partners across the Ocean, writes the German newspaper “Bild”, citing a source.
The editors clarify that a potential period for Moscow’s actions is after the presidential elections in the USA and before the inauguration of the country’s elected head of state, i.e. between November 2024 and January 2025.
An intelligence official (who exactly was not clarified) claims that Russian officials hope that US President (2016-2021) Donald Trump will return to the White House because under his leadership “anything can happen”, he clarifies ” Focus”.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized in an interview with the German national daily “Die Welt” that Germany must be better prepared for the country’s defense: “Now we have about five to eight years in which we have to catch up – both in the armed forces, in industry and in society”.
In addition, it became known that Germany intends to transfer 4,000 Bundeswehr soldiers to Lithuania by 2027: for the first time in the history of the country, an entire brigade will be permanently stationed on the Eastern flank of NATO – near the border with Russia. Pistorius is also calling for the restoration of compulsory military service in Germany.
Jacek Severa, head of Poland’s National Security Directorate, previously said that NATO’s Eastern Flank countries should prepare for a possible confrontation with Russia within three years.
