Intel will actually offer new CPU coolers, with plastic fins

Intel will also see the advent of Alder Lake-S processors as an opportunity to dust off its BOX coolers, which it does not yet offer with the K and KF series processors available today. We have to buy our own heatsink for these processors, but as usual we will get the others that will be suitable according to Intel.

It was not yet visible from the previously published image and the images were also marked with the text For Placement Only (FPO), but it is clear from the detailed photo of the Intel RM1 model that the raised ribs are in fact plastic, so it is basically an imitation. The very body of the radiator hidden under them is much more modest and extends only under the fan blades.

The RM1 heatsink can be described as a medium-performance model of its group for Core i3 to i7, which includes an even weaker RS1 heatsink for Pentia and Celerons and, conversely, a stronger RH1 for Core i9. But they will obviously also have plastic ribs, the practical meaning of which will be such that the cables do not get caught in the shoulder blades and the RH1 will probably be a place for blue LEDs and RM1 with a blue hoop could also have LEDs, but it is not certain and above all, it is not essential.

The main question is whether such coolers can cool processors, which will have a maximum of 65W TDP, but real consumption and heat output can climb much higher. Of course, Intel will have it calculated and tested, but the performance of the heatsinks can only apply to its recommended settings with a limited turbo time, which board manufacturers have not been following much lately. –
