Intel claims to have achieved “the largest silicon electron spinning device in the industry” with a single electron in each position on a 300mm silicon wafer, reports The register. Something that should involve over 900 single quantum dots and over 400 double dots for the entire plate.
The functionality of the latest silicon spin prototype will be tested with a specially designed cryoprob. A kind of extremely low temperature cooling container to handle quantum computers.
According to Intel, this represents a milestone in the work to produce quantum bit spin devices through existing manufacturing methods. Something that in the long run could mean that quantum computers can be produced on a large scale.
