Intel Introduces Sapphire Rapids Generation Xeon W-3200 and Xeon W-2400 Desktop Workstation Processors Up to 56 Cores #DDR5 in EMIB Package (189483)

Intel announced the launch of the Xeon W-3400 and Xeon W-2400 desktop workstation processors belonging to the Sapphire Rapids generation. Among them, the Xeon w9-3495 has a CPU with up to 56 cores and supports DDR5, PCIe 5 and Wi-Fi 6E. For professional workers, it also supports vPro Enterprise, ECC memory, etc., targeting professional content creators and data science professionals.

The Xeon W-3400 and Xeon W-2400 workstation processors are expected to be available from March, with suggested prices ranging from $359 for the entry-level Xeon w3-2423 to $5,899 for the top-end w9-3495X.

The Xeon W-3200 and Xeon W-2400 series processors use the embedded multi-chip interconnect bridge EMIB package to achieve a breakthrough in computing performance and core count. A single socket can provide up to 56 core CPUs and have redesigned memory control. Compared with the previous generation, the single-threaded performance is increased by 28%, and the multi-threaded performance is greatly improved by 120%. At the same time, Turbo Boost Max Technology can increase the clock frequency up to 4.8GHz. At the same time, this series of products also has a non-frequency version, which can provide overclocking and the first DDR5 XMP 3.0 RDIMM memory overclocking.

The Xeon W-3400 and Xeon W-2400 workstation processor series also include the following features: support for third-generation Intel Deep Learning Boost (DL Boost), AMX, bfloat 16 and other artificial intelligence training and inference acceleration; L3 cache up to 105MB; Support 8-channel DDR5 memory and 4TB memory bandwidth, support ECC memory and RAS to ensure key data integrity and system reliability; Xeon W-3400 series has a maximum of 112 PCIe Gen 5 channels, Xeon W-2400 series provides the highest 64 PCIe Gen 5 channels can meet the configuration of high-end multi-GPU, a large number of SSDs and high-speed network cards; the platform integrates Wi-Fi 6E, a new generation of high-speed wireless network technology.

From the specification table, W-3200 series provides w9 with 56 cores, w7 with 28 cores and w5 with 16 cores, while W-2400 provides w7 with 24 cores, w5 with 16 cores and w3 with 8 cores; W-3200 series Both are 8-channel and support DDR5 4800, the memory can reach up to 4TB RAM, and provide up to 112 PCIe 5 buses; W-2400 only supports 4-channel memory and a maximum of 2TB RAM, and the memory clock of the entry-level w3 is also Down to DDR5 4400, DDR5 channels are almost cut in half to 64 channels. At the same time, the cache of W-3200 is larger than that of W-2400, but the maximum power consumption and computing power consumption of W-3200 are also higher.
