Intel cancels Meteor Lake desktop processors

Intel’s Meteor Lake family of desktop processors may not be released. A Raichu insider announced it on Twitter: he had previously indicated very accurately the parameters and performance of many of the company’s new products a few months before their release.

The source spoke specifically about Meteor Lake-S, that is, chips for laptops of this generation are expected to enter the market. The Wccftech portal has found some more circumstantial evidence that Intel may actually refuse to release these CPU models. First, it is similar to Arrow Lake in terms of the number of small and large cores, which is unlikely, since it makes no sense for the company to make nearly identical products in this respect. Secondly, according to Intel’s roadmap, the Raptor Lake Refresh family is expected in the second half of 2023, which coincides with the estimated release time of Meteor Lake-S.

Reporters suggest that this decision was caused by Intel’s problems with the transition to thinner process technology. It is likely that the company will not have time to master it and establish mass production, and there is a possibility that Meteor Lake for laptops will be completely produced by TSMC.
