IDXChannel – Deficiency chip global what is currently going on is predicted to last longer, this was also conveyed by the CEO Intel Pat Gelsinger which predicts the chip shortage will continue into at least 2023.
“We are in the worst condition right now; every quarter of next year, we will gradually get better, but will not have a supply-demand balance until 2023,” Gelsinger told CNBC in an interview, quoted from The Verge, Friday (10/29/2021).
Intel’s rival, AMD, seems to have more optimistic expectations. AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said that while supply will be difficult for the near future.
“It (chip supply) will probably get better in 2022, as production capacity continues,” Su said.
“It gets better next year, not immediately, but it will gradually get better as more plants emerge.” he added.
Intel’s less encouraging outlook came as the company announced a 2 percent drop in revenue for its Client Computing Group, which manufactures desktop and chips laptop.
The decline was led by 5 percent in notebook sales that Intel attributed to the constraints of the notebook ecosystem. This means that laptop companies don’t have enough spare parts to use.
This pattern can be seen in other reports, with analysts having highlighted component shortages as a key factor in the recent slowdown in laptop sales.
