Intel Arc Graphics Card Update: Massive Performance Boost for DirectX 11 Games

Intel’s Arc graphics cards have been on the market for about a year. They may not have taken the world by storm, but Intel’s developers have definitely not been on the lazy side. The company has been pushing out updated drivers on a regular basis with long lists of bug fixes and optimizations that have boosted performance significantly since the cards were first released.

The Arc cards A380, A750 and A770 have been criticized for offering low performance in games that do not use the modern DirectX 12 but the old version 11. Intel has defended itself by saying that it is looking to the future, but during the year the company still made great efforts at this point. That applies not least in the latest update, writes Extreme Tech.

In the new drivers that have just been released, Intel once again has a long list of improvements, including increased performance in individual popular DirectX 11 games. The biggest difference is in Deus Ex: Human Revolution in 1080p with high graphics settings. The Arc cards provide 119 percent more frames per second in that game. A number of other games receive improvements of 10-15 percent. The update also adds support for Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the new Forza Motorsport.

An update to the Arc drivers in February gave DirectX 9 games a 43 percent performance boost, and recent updates have included Bethesda’s new blockbuster Starfield running on Intel graphics cards.

Next year, Intel is expected to launch new processors with the new Battlemage GPU architecture in the built-in graphics circuits. They are expected to benefit from all these optimizations, to the benefit especially of anyone who gets a laptop without a discrete graphics chip from AMD or Nvidia.
