Wednesday evening passed literally without noticing, enjoying the new presentation of Intara Busulis and the premiere of the film “Mans tetis – Intars Busulis” at Splendid Palace.

The hall was crowded with well-known people, friends and relatives of the musician, as well as admirers of his talent. Camera lights were flashing and there was a positive atmosphere.
The event started with a concert in which songs from the new album “Play your magic flute” were played. Here I remembered what “Prāta Vētras” soloist Renārs Kaupers once said at a concert, that musicians always try to create new songs, while the audience at concerts asks to play already known songs. It is. But little by little, each new song becomes already known and hummed along. That will surely be the fate of those who spoke this evening.

It must also be admitted that it is not easy to listen to Intara Busulis’ music while sitting in comfortable chairs, because this energy draws you in and makes you want to move along. Between the songs, Intars Busulis greeted the people with whom the new album was made from the stage, especially highlighting the poets whose works are being sung.
Flowers, the joy of meeting and the constant jokes from the stage – it’s not like that at Intara Busulis, is it?
And then, after a short break, it was time for the premiere. Before that, a sincere surprise was the appearance of Intara Busulis’s eldest daughter, Emilija, in the audience and asking the audience how they liked the new album.
After a moment, one of the film’s directors – Edgars Lūsiņš (the other director is Anna Lūsiņa) – came on stage, who said that the making of the film was a very pleasant process. It has been decided that this will be a very open and personal story, because no parent can lie when looking their child in the eye. That is why all four Busuļi children had become directors in a sense.
The director also gave special thanks to Intara’s wife Inga, who usually does not like too much publicity on a daily basis, but this time she agreed to cooperate and was especially open.
How do you rate movies? I especially appreciate the ones where I can laugh, in which there are moments where I have a reason to shed a tear, which make me feel better and happier. Yes, it was all in this movie. An amazingly personal and open story, an opportunity to look into the family of a beloved musician through the screen. Great! I am already in a hurry to send a message to all my friends that this movie must be seen.
And during the movie, I also picked up my phone, because I immediately wanted to write down one of the quotes that the youngest son Jānis said in the movie: “I love it more when dad mows the grass than when he sings.” How so? Because the dad who mows the grass is right next door, available and his own. But the other one – on the stage – is already not at home at that time.
Although my fingers are itching to tell more, I will refrain so as not to spoil your viewing pleasure. I’m telling you too – you have to see this movie, it increases the positive and makes you love your family even more.

The directors of the film are Edgars and Anna Lūsiņi, as well as the children of Intara Busulis – Lenny, Emilija, Amelija and Jānis. “Mans tetis – Intars Busulis” is a candid film about Intar’s life from the perspective of his children. In the film, they interview people close to their dad and important in his life, and also look for answers to not so convenient questions.
Intars admits that during the film interviews he received several questions that he never discussed with the children on a daily basis. “Sometimes it was really not easy for me to answer questions about my frequent absences, about my relationship with my beloved wife Inga, about my dreams. I have never had such open interviews in my life”, reveals Intars Busulis.
