It all started with a typical Facebook post by Mamikina, in which the former member of the European Parliament (EP) from Latvia sarcastically asks if anyone has managed to watch Intara Busulis’ recent performance on a holiday show on Russian TV.
This tribute to Busulis is intended as a reminder that once upon a time the Latvian musician had very close ties with listeners in Russia.
As is known, shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Busulis publicly announced that he would no longer continue his activities in the aggressor country. Many – both local and Russian – fans took it very seriously, criticizing the musician for “dipping into politics”.
However, Busulis did not owe an answer to Mamikin’s publication.
“Dear Andrey! I invite you, your friends and all your followers to a concert in Arena “Riga” on March 8. See you again!” in Russian, the official account of Busulis comments on Mamikin’s post.
In the comment, Busulis also used the LGBT flag and later added on the “X” website that if “Andrej finally gets his act together and comes out of the closet”, I will support him from the bottom of my heart.
In connection with the Latvian musician’s comment, it should be explained that in Latvia, the State Security Service (VDD) has initiated criminal proceedings against Mamikin and a number of associates, and returning to Latvia would definitely mean detention and the inevitable closing of court doors for Mamikin.
As previously reported, Andrejs Mamikins left Latvia because, as he himself claimed, he was “almost homeless”.
Meanwhile, in Russia, the former Latvian politician expressed himself after the full program already in the first weeks, calling the Russian war “holy” and mocking the Ukrainian civilians, who have become victims of terrible war crimes.
