A team of specialists from INTA Hilario Ascasubi, in the province of Buenos Aires, designed an app called Campero Fertilizadoras, a new digital tool that allows the regulation of fertilization machinery and the management of tasks.
The app is available for devices with an Android system and does not require network connectivity, according to the state agency, noting that “a web version will be available soon that will allow compatibility with other operating systems.”
“Continuing with the line of INTA Apps for agricultural machinery, such as Campero, Criollo, Criollo Mochilas and Criollo Atomizadores, what is sought is to facilitate accounts, try to protocolize a machine calibration procedure and organize the operator’s task ”, expressed Juan Pablo D’Amico, researcher in charge of the design and development of the application.
“It is very easy to use, which allows the calibrator to detect which is the best choice of crop at the time of fertilization,” said D’Amico, who was in charge of the development of the Criollo and Campero applications.
In agricultural production, most fertilizers are applied with projection machines, which have high-speed function discs. These machines are simple and have a great working capacity due to their working width and speed, but they require certain adjustments, which are not always carried out, to achieve good distribution uniformity.
In fact, a report prepared by Santiago Tourn, a specialist in agricultural mechanization at the Balcarce Integrated Unit (Faculty of Agronomy of the National University of Mar del Plata and INTA), warns that the regulation of the machine can reduce irregularity by half. of distribution and increase corn yields by up to 8%.
