Under the theme “Events and characters in Argentine democratic history”, the Editorial Board of the National Theater Institute made up of Sandra Franzen, María Paula Del Prato, Fabiola Manssor, Gustavo Uano and David Jacobs announced the results of the call.
As part of the New Plan Podesta – Always Democracy, the INT launched the 2023 edition of the play contest whose purpose was to write pieces whose themes deal with memory, strengthening, consolidation, exercise and defense of democracy in our country through events, journeys and/or characters from Argentine history. The variety of themes that especially value the incorporation of new perspectives and perspectives, that propose to problematize and/or reflect on democratic life and the recovery of constitutional rights and freedoms typical of a rule of law, were valued. The objective of this contest was to contribute to the processes of valorization of federal theater as an essential artistic expression for the improvement of the quality of life, social development and the enrichment of our cultural heritage through a free and sovereign theater that promotes an attitude committed to this social and political art by definition.
The jury of the 24th National Play Competition was made up of Gabriela Borgna (NOA), Melisa Stocco (Patagonia), Manuel García Migani (Nuevo Cuyo), Daniela Osella (Centro Litoral) and Carina Noemberg (NEA), established the following selection of three awards and three mentions, in no order of merit, which will be published in 2024 by INTeatro Editorial.
The awarded works are: “Three shots at six in the morning” by Alberto Moreno (Catamarca); “Malvinas: another oblivion of history” by Violeta Amarú Fisteus Fuenzalida (Jujuy); and “A black gayo. Rural Tragedy” by Emiliano Gabriel Farías (Entre Ríos).
The works mentioned are: “The Boy Who Sees” by Carlos Fernando Leyes (Formosa); “Fireflies” by Horacio Alejandro Nin Uria (CABA); and “There is no shine left” by Malena Vince (CABA).
