Insurer VIVAT will cut almost a quarter of its 2,200 jobs | NOW

VIVAT, the parent company of insurers such as ACTIAM and Zwitserleven, will cut up to 500 jobs in the Netherlands in the next three years, it reports concern Wednesday. As a result, almost a quarter of the 2,200 jobs may be lost. All personnel work in the Netherlands.

The cutbacks follow the takeover of most of VIVAT by German industry peer Athora.

As part of that transaction, the branch that does not deal with life insurance was sold to insurer NN. With the latter change, an additional 575 employees will transfer to NN.

In addition, VIVAT is changing course: the insurer wants to become the market leader in the market for pension insurance. The company wants to do this under the brand name Zwitserleven.

By fully focusing on retirement insurance, the company aims to create a simpler business structure and reduce costs by 30 percent. Cutting jobs is part of the cost reduction.
