Here are 3 motorcycle routes to find the fresh air and light, far from the main roads, simply for the pleasure of the eyes and sensations. The level of difficulty takes into account the state of the roads and the turns of the course.
On the way to the sea for a breath of fresh air
Beginner level
– An 84km loop from Lo-Reninge, the second smallest city in Belgium. Allow two hours between land and the seaside! Nothing but pleasure: you will cross the nature reserves of Blankaart and Viconia Kleiputten, take the opportunity to picnic there. Then, follow the Yser which will take you to the North Sea.
The freshness of the Eau d’Heure lakes
Intermediate level
– A pretty three-hour walk along the water’s edge, near a natural site rich in flora and fauna. A healthy lunch break at the “Tri Marrants” restaurant in an invigorating and unusual setting before hitting the road to cross the largest dam in Belgium, to visit from the inside for a 360° view of the entire Lakes region of Eau d’Heure. And to finish: a detour to the nearby border enjoying the magnificent views along the Meuse.
From Malmédy to Germany, between lakes and forests
Intermediate level
– A 97km route for about two hours of driving from Malmédy. The beginning of the journey, rather straight, is no less pleasant and it allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature. Plan a break at Lake Bütgenbach to breathe the pure and invigorating air of the Ardennes. The rest of the road-book invites you to cross the countryside and the undergrowth… before tackling the bends that will awaken new sensations in you! You will then cross a few villages to discover the Hautes Fagnes-Eifel natural park. The end of the walk passes by the lake of Robertville before resuming the road towards Malmedy.
