Insufficient Parking Space for Confiscated Vehicles in Burgas

The parking lots of the Ministry of the Interior, where the cars of drivers caught with alcohol or drug data are under guard, turned out to be insufficient in Burgas. How much are the cars confiscated in advance for the benefit of the state and where are they parked, bTV informs.

80 motor vehicles (mostly passenger cars) were seized on the territory of Burgas Municipality from drunk or drugged drivers in the period from August 8 to September 11, reports the regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The parking lot for storing the stolen cars is under constant police guard, monitored 24 hours a day with video cameras,” said Commissioner Marin Dimitrov from “Security Police”-Burgas. He reported that for the same period last week there were 163 pre-trial proceedings for established offences. Now these productions are only 100, which shows a certain decline.

“At the moment, there are two more regional offices on the territory of Burgas, where confiscated cars are stored. These cars are to be parked here to be stored in one place. This will make it easier to guard them. These cars are inspected even during the confiscation and we store them as they are,” Commissioner Marin Dimitrov explained.

However, he was unable to say what would happen to the cars in a severe hail storm. The police are hoping for assistance from the municipality to cover the parking lot.
