Institutions must be able to adapt to changes: Taddei

Mexico City. The President of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Guadalupe Taddei, said that public institutions must be able to adapt to changes.

He noted that strong and transparent bodies are essential for the proper functioning of democracy.

He also stressed that active and responsible citizenship is essential for the development of a democratic and just society.

Upon receiving the Voz Sonora medal, awarded by the Diario del Yaqui, the president of the INE emphasized that citizen participation is crucial in the construction and strengthening of institutions. “Active citizenship strengthens democratic institutions and solid institutions promote active citizenship,” she said.

He said that the construction of citizenship and institutions are fundamental pillars of democracy that, together with the work of the media, reinforce each other.

In this task, he stressed, the media have a fundamental role in reporting on the rights of citizens established in the Constitution and, above all, in monitoring the actions of all institutions and those who form part of them as public servants.

Taddei therefore urged everyone to work together “to confront current challenges and ensure that our democracy remains a beacon of justice and equity.”
