An offer to resign without coercion
Anton said, PT Nikomas Gemilang has offered to resign without coercion to its employees. “It’s quite similar layoffs. But with this offer, if the employees don’t want to (resign), then there’s no coercion,” she said.
Anton further explained the reasons why the company offered its employees to quit their jobs. This cannot be separated from companies that rely on the export market and are currently experiencing declining demand.
“Since the middle of last year there have been signs that the demand for the world market, especially America and the European Union, has dropped sharply,” said Anton.
Unmitigated, the decline in market demand can average as much as 50 percent. “Why average, why not all factories, some don’t even have more than 50 percent,” said Anton.
The decline in demand has not only affected shoes, but also clothing products, which have recorded a drop in orders of up to 30%. Likewise the furniture products that have not escaped the drop in demand.
