The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), Marie Lucie Joseph, proceeded, on Tuesday September 21, 2021, to the installation of the former departmental director of education of the West, Louis Fritz Dorminvil as Inspector General of Education. Louis Fritz Dorminvil succeeds Louis Délima Chéry, who died recently. The ceremony took place in the presence, among others, of inspectors general including the Chief Inspector General, Jackson Pléteau and other MENFP executives.
According to a note from MENFP, Louis Fritz Dorminvil has a 25-year career in the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, including 7 years at the head of the Departmental Directorate of Education of the West (DDE-O ).
The holder of the MENFP, in this note, said she hoped that “the arrival of this career civil servant at the General Inspectorate of Education will strengthen the ministry in its quest for good governance of the education sector and improving the quality of education. ”
Marie Lucie Joseph says she relies on the expertise of Dorminvil, who has worked in the system since 1995, and who was once a secondary school inspector.
“Mr. Inspector General, the Minister that I am would like to see you very quickly at work on a mission to assess the governance of the decentralized structures of the MENFP. Expect a formal order in the coming days ”, underlined the Minister, during her first instructions to the new Inspector General while wishing him fruitful work.
The Chief Inspector General, Jackson Pléteau, said he welcomed Dorminvil’s presence in this MENFP strategic watch and control structure.
Speaking to Dorminvil by questioning him about his responsibilities, Pléteau specifies for the former departmental director that his new function of Inspector General is the crowning of his progress in the education sector. “It’s not a gift,” concluded Mr. Pléteau.
In his speech, Louis Fritz Dorminvil indicated that he will get to work quickly and promises to live up to the confidence placed in him. He took the opportunity to address his words of thanks to Minister Marie Lucie Joseph and to former Minister Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet who, he informs, had set his sights on him to become Inspector General.
“It is with a feeling filled with emotion that I am integrating the General Inspectorate of Education and being able to work with outstanding executives who have always instilled in me the concern for a job well done” said Dorminvil, promising to perform his task competently and honestly. However, he says he is counting on the support of his fellow Inspectors General in order to face this new responsibility.
Making a brief review of the work accomplished during the last three years of existence of this new entity of the MENFP, Mr. Pléteau cites, among others, the conduct of studies on the assessment of prior learning, studies on teaching, studies on the penetration of textbooks, but also the contribution to the development and implementation of the ten-year education and training plan (PDEF). The reports provided with a set of recommendations to the highest authorities on certain problems identified can allow the ministry to make informed decisions, he said.
