The installation of a living wall was carried out on July 24, 25 and 26, 2023, at the entrance to the administrative city of Les Lices, in the Montéty district, rue Montebello in Toulon. It is made up of 61 wooden concrete nesting boxes representing the silhouette of a swift in flight, a real first in France!
The OFB accepted the application of the LPO PACA in October 2021 for a citizen mobilization project around the subject of swifts in the municipality of Toulon. This project was driven in particular by Katherine Dubourg, volunteer at the local group in Toulon. The LPO thus benefited from funding from theOFB to carry out a set of actions in favor of swifts: a symposium on the subject which was held in Toulon on November 25, 2022, an advisory guide Reconciling swifts and frame to find on this lienand a fresco with swifts.
The silhouette was made according to the plans of the architect Lucie Mullerfrom Atelier 5 while the nesting boxes were made by Nature Harmonies and installed by the company Profile. This project would not have been possible without the collaboration of the Toulon town hall and some Var prefecture.
These nest boxes are ready to welcome, from next season, the large colony of swifts already present in the administrative city!
