Meta is certainly not afraid to copy Snapchat, quite the opposite. After years of “writing” its stories, stories made up of photos or videos that are only available 24 hours after publication, it is now planning to adopt another interesting feature. Specifically, it is Snap Map, a map that shows you the location of your friends and their posts.
A copy of Snap Map is set to land on Instagram under the name Friend Map. Meta’s spokesperson recently confirmed the test, explaining that the new product is currently being tested by a small group of users before being rolled out on a larger scale. Friend Map’s usability should then be roughly the same as the Snapchat version. It will allow users to share your location along with a photo or video, so that your friends or people in general you share the thing with can see exactly where you are. There will be the option to share with all followers as well as close friends, as is already possible with Instagram Stories. However, it is still too early to estimate how popular the new product will be.
