Instagram could be testing “Templates” that would allow creators to make Reels by borrowing formats from other videos on the platform, according to The Verge. The function looks somewhat similar to the TikTok template toolwhich allows creators to have pre-made content to lighten the load a bit.
Reverse engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi discovered an early version of “Templates” in January, while influencer and marketing director Josephine Hill has said she has already been able to test the version. In a screenshot posted by Hill in March, it appears that users can swap their own clips into preset frames, as well as add your own audio. This could save users the use of third-party templates from sites such as Canva.
Instagram is trying to get more creators to Reels. The company’s growth is completely flat in recent quarters, while other social networks continue to grow and sweep. It is for this reason that the company is striving to try to scratch user share from its main rivals by imitating its model.
Instagram REELS announced a new feature! “Use as template” allows user to replace the clips with your own and it will match the time stamps of the template reel. Let me know what you think of this feature. Does this make you want to create more reels? pic.twitter.com/rLMJAX89jG

Therefore, the incorporation of templates could make it easier to create videos in Reels and stimulate the creation of more original content.
