Because many social users watch stories without sound on Instagram and to meet the needs of hearing-impaired users, the social network is currently working on a novelty that should appeal to the greatest number: automatic subtitling of its video content!
Just days after launching Live Rooms, a new live format for many, Instagram is back on the scene with a novelty that promises to consolidate its status as the favorite social network of Generation Z. A new feature has just been deployed on the service dedicated to images and videos to allow everyone to add automatic subtitles to their stories. Rather practical when we know that many social users consult Instagram without sound. At the moment, this new tool is not publicly available but it is a few lucky users, including Matt Navara, who shared their find on Twitter, sharing a video of their discovery. What to discover that the new functionality will be in the sticker list used to personalize your photos and videos in stories, as well as the tools for writing in stories, tagging other users or inserting music into the content.

The arrival of such a feature on Instagram is not really a surprise since other platforms have already tried it in recent years. Especially, Facebook and YouTube offer their users to share videos with automatically generated subtitles, with more or less precision and relevance. For its subtitling, called “Captions” in the stickers, Instagram will offer several styles and several fonts, as the social network already does for texts that can be inserted into stories. But you will still have to be patient before discovering this tool in action: as an Instagram spokesperson explained to Matt Navara, the platform explores “always ways to allow people to express themselves better in stories but this functionality is not currently being tested publicly”. In the meantime, social users and, above all, influencers will have to continue to subtitle their content themselves!
