Do you have one image or video on Instagram that you want everyone to see? Instagram now lets you pin posts to your profile. We show you how.

Instagram announced the functionality early June on, after which it slowly rolled out to iOS and Android users. The position has now also arrived at the TechPulse editors. The feature allows you to pin regular photos and videos as well as Reels to the top of your profile. Once pinned, they will appear above the recently posted posts with a pin indicating the posts have been pinned. This makes it comparable to the pin function that we know from platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.

Don’t confuse the feature with the Story highlights. Pinning an Instagram Story to your profile was already possible before; for this you need to create a highlight that ends up just below your biography. This time around, we’re just looking at how posts, such as a regular photo or Reel, can be pinned to your profile via the iOS or Android app. Have you already opened the Instagram app? Then we get started.

  1. Open your profile on Instagram by clicking your at the bottom right profile picture to click
  2. Choose it message you want to pin and click on it
  3. Click the three dots at the top right and select Pin to your profile

Do you want to unpin the message from your Instagram profile at a later time? Then follow the above steps again and select at step 3 Detach from profile† That way, the message will be detached from your profile. Don’t worry though: the message will of course be saved on your profile; it will then only return to its place in the chronological order of your posts.
