Instagram tests the “States” in the profile

In addition to Stories and Reels, Instagram is testing a new way to share information with followers about (pun intended) the status of the account user. With the States it is allowed a state can be defined for 24 hours that will only appear visible to followers that the user also follows.

Instagram statuses appear only for 24 hours and only for those who follow each other

By restricting who can view these statuses from Instagram, an element of proximity or closeness is provided to those who will be able to access what is published in them. Its content would be limited to a circle of contacts with whom you share a close relationship, as it happened with the states of the popular MSN Messenger or more recently with those of WhatsApp.

For define a status on Instagram All you have to do is click on the user image in the lower right part of the app screen, where a new menu will appear with the heading «Define a status», which allows you to select between several predefined options: Happy, Busy, Celebrating, Working …

Finally there is a last option that allows you to customize the status with a concise text, which also allows adding emojis. When the button «Send» is clicked, the status is published, being displayed under the profile name. A novelty in the States is that they can be used to start a conversation if the viewer clicks on it.

At the moment there is no official confirmation by Instagram about this new function, but some users of the social network have detected that the States option appears available and operational in their application.
