INSTAGRAM is testing major changes to its Stories platform. Meta’s social network wants to increase the maximum length of videos in Stories to 60 seconds. Previously, an Instagram story was only about 15 seconds long.
This is done in an attempt by the company to beat Snapchat and TikTok.
Citing the 9to5Mac page, Friday (17/12/2021), as posted by the user Instagram in Turkey, social networking apps are now notifying some users of the change.
Currently, if a user records or uploads a video longer than 15 seconds, it will be automatically split into different Stories.
However, with this new change, users can post videos to Stories that are up to 60 seconds long without having to share them.
The company is also testing a revamped interface for posting Stories that will make it easier to tag other accounts or add locations to posts.
It’s unclear when or if Instagram will make this change available to all users worldwide, as only a few users are currently able to post longer Stories.

As TikTok has become increasingly popular and Snapchat recently introduced a new standalone app for content creators to edit videos, it’s no surprise that Instagram is keen to make its platform more attractive to users who enjoy sharing videos on the social network.
